Retail industry is an important driving force of the tertiary industry.At this stage,more and more attention has been paid to the retail industry.all kinds of new retail and intelligent retail have become a hot topic.Improving the competitiveness of the retail industry is of great significance in stimulating domestic demand,promoting economic development and improving the living standards of the people.At present,the development of regional retail industry in China is very different.In order to comprehensively,scientifically and accurately reflect the current situation of the development of regional retail industry,explore the shortcomings and advantages of the competitiveness of regional retail industry,and put forward targeted suggestions for improvements.It is necessary to construct the evaluation index system of retail competitiveness and comprehensively evaluate the competitiveness of regional retail industry in China.In this paper,31 provinces and autonomous regions in China are taken as the research object,and the relevant index data in 2017 are used as samples for comprehensive evaluation.Firstly,according to the evaluation theory of industrial competitiveness and the retail industry environment,the evaluation index system is constructed.Then the index system is optimized from two angles of index correlation and discrimination,using conditional generalized variance minimum method and entropy method respectively.Then the optimized index system is weighted,based on G1 subjective weighting and improved CRITIC objective weighting,using programming method to integrate subjective and objective weights.Finally,combined with grey relational analysis(GRA)and approximate ideal solution(Topsis),the GRA-Topsis evaluation model is constructed,and the comprehensive ranking of retail competitiveness of each region is obtained,and the cluster analysis is carried out by using the secondary index evaluation value of retail industry in each region in order to accurately locate the general situation and regional characteristics of the development of regional retail industry in China,promote the balanced and rapid development of regional retail industry and provide targeted recommendations,theoretical basis and scientific guidance.The empirical results of this paper show that:(1)On the whole,the development level of regional retail industry competitiveness in China converges with the level of regional economic development,and the geographical competitiveness shows agradual weakening of competitiveness from the east to the west;(2)In different competitiveness echelons The region has different development characteristics in terms of industry scale,profitability,development potential,marketing capability and industry structure,and needs to improve the status in a targeted manner;(3)The improvement of retail competitiveness requires cooperation in various aspects.At the same time of expanding the scale,we should focus on management operations and profitability support,and improve comprehension competitiveness of enterprises.The government should continue to invest heavily in encouraging retail enterprises to develop innovation,promote urbanization,and raise residents’ income levels and consumption power.
