In the era of knowledge economy of technological progress, innovation has become the source of national and regional development. In order to build an innovative country and realize the transformation of the mode of economic growth in this critical period of economic transformation, the CPC put forward an innovation-driven development strategy as early as 2012.The essence of the innovation-driven development strategy is the reliance on the R&D-driven development. How can China improve the overall level of R&D development? How to achieve R&D-driven development? This is related to the realization of the important goal of "two hundred years" in China, and to the formulation of the future of R&D space planning and related policy.Based on this, from the perspective of spatial effects, this article will study the R&D spillover effects of China's regional growth in China, which will help promote the high-quality economic development, reduce the regional economic gap,and achieve coordinated economic development. It has practical significance for future economic planning of China, and it also supplements R&D spillover effects and economic growth theory, which has theoretical significance. Many scholars have researched R&D and obtained some research results, which show that R&D and R&D spillover effects have a significant effect on promoting economic growth.Although there have been many research results, but few scholars have studied the high-order spatial adjacent effects of R&D and its spatial distribution. There is no evidence of whether the high-order spatial effects of R&D still exist significantly when capital and labor exist, which is also an innovation point of this paper.Based on the above background, the purpose of this paper is to study the R&D spillover effects of regional growth. With 31 provinces and cities in China as research units, using the spatial econometric methods,we explore whether there is a significant spatially adjacent self-autocorrelation in R&D activities in China. If it exists,How the spatial distribution is,how the geographical distribution of high-development cluster areas and low-development cluster areas is distributed,so as to clarify which areas are the core of the economic development driven by R&D.Finally,by establishing the space panel model,we can clarify the impact degree and the R&D spillover effects of regional growth in China, and add the influence of capital and labor to the spatial self-correlation model, verify the existence and significance of the R&D spillover effects under the framework of growth, with a view to making suggestions on China's economic development strategy for reference.Through empirical analysis, the following main conclusions are obtained: First, there are significant spatial self-correlations in the activities of 31 provinces and cities in China, which is highly concentrated in space, and has the greatest influence on the third-order spatial adjacent effect.Spatial self-correlation diagram shows that the HH cluster in China is mainly distributed in the eastern coastal areas, and the LL cluster is mainly the western regions with backward economic development.Second, the results of the spatial econometric model show that R&D and R&D spillover effects have a significant positive effect on economic growth and are robust.Third,by setting dummy variables in the model,it is found that the eastern region and the central and western regions have different response modes to R&D spillover effects. The eastern region's R&D investment and R&D spillover effects have a greater effect on economic growth, and it is difficult for the central and western regions to obtain R&D spillover effects from the high-development areas. In view of the summary of the research conclusions, four suggestions are put forward: first, strengthen regional linkages and establish regional R&D linkages development mechanisms;second, pay attention to R&D spillover effects and give full play to space spillover effects;third, the government should pay a good guiding role according to local conditions;and fourth, strengthen the central and western regions, and forming a new research and development cluster.
