In recent years,the international market of container liner transport exists the phenomenon of extreme excess capacity.As a result,tariff indicators have remained low,which has led to fierce competition in the market.Therefore,liner shipping companies have to face the tough problem that how to enhance their own servicing capacity and meet the high-level requirements of customers for transport services,so as to win more customers and set a profitable price.Based on the respective needs and preferences of different customer groups,targeted provision of particular services to meet their needs is a powerful means to win customers and effective measures to ensure revenue.It is of great significance to conduct customer subdivision for the shipping company’s business.Taking S shipping company as the research object,this paper discusses and analyzes its customers in Fujian province.Based on the research results of relevant literatures at home and abroad and the detailed investigation of the shipping company’s services,this paper puts forward the service attribute system of the container liner shipping company,and establishes an evaluation and analysis model for the customer market segmentation of the container liner shipping company.According to the customer feedback data obtained from the questionnaire survey,SPSS statistical software is used to subdivide the customers,and based on the analysis results,solutions are proposed for the container liner company to improve its services and rapid development.The main innovations of this paper are as follows:(1)based on the proposed theories and models of market segmentation in the reviewed literature,a systematic market segmentation evaluation and analysis model is proposed for the container liner company’s customer market;(2)a variety of statistical methods are used as quantitative means to conduct quantitative analysis via the statistical procedure,which makes up for the deficiency of the existing studies that only discuss market segmentation from a qualitative perspective,and provides a new research idea for this research direction.
