In recent years, the influence of the top management team on the company's strategic decision-making and strategic actions has gradually aroused great attention from academic management scholars. The new research direction is based on Upper Echelons Theory to study what strategic actions management teams with different structures and characteristics will take. The operation of t outward-oriented strategic action and restructuring market has shown clear signs of acceleration since 2013.However,do M & A and reorganization transactions really make enterprises more competitive in the market? Can the integrated corporate performance after mergers and acquisitions satisfy the acquirer? In the context of accelerated M & A and restructuring transactions, rationally thinking about the motivations of outward-oriented strategic action and improving the operational efficiency of listed companies 'expansion strategies is a real problem that needs to be resolved.Of the Big Five personality traits, extraversion is the strongest and most consistent predictor of leadership emergence and of transformational and effective leadership.Given that extraversion is the strongest and most consistent personality predictor of effective and transformational leadership, scholars have found that extraversion is related to a firm's strategic flexibility and strategic change initiativesThis study examines how extraversion,a personality trait that signifies more or less positive affect, assertive behavior, decisive thinking, and desires for social engagement, influences top managers' decisions and the ensuing strategic behavior of firms. For our own study, recent developments in computer programming gave us the opportunity to use a novel technique to study a large,cross-industry sample of 501 samples of S&P 419 firms. We obtained non-scripted conversations between top managers and shareholders over a five-year period(2013–2017)and ran a linguistic application, resulting in a unique database of top manager s' personality scores.Using these data,we examine whether, why, and when top manager extraversion might influence Outward-oriented Strategic Action.
