Abstract/Summary:
Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) is becoming more important to the production of oil. Oil reservoirs are produced by means of primary and secondary recovery. Primary recovery of oil entails producing the oil reservoir by natural means where secondary involves the injection of fluid to maintain the pressure of the reservoir. Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) involves the use of plenty of processes mainly to boost the production of oil. These processes are gas injection, chemical flooding, thermal processes and microbial EOR. The processes and the factors that influence the recovery of oil are under research and no concrete conclusions have been well known for some of these processes.;The key reason for this study is to provide a comprehensive literature review of all the EOR processes used in the oil and gas industry. This review gives an overall description of the EOR processes implemented and the factors that influence them. These factors include geological, economical and technical. Furthermore, recent experimental studies and field applications are presented pertaining to the EOR processes mentioned above.
