Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study was to perform a reservoir analysis on applications of gelled polymer technology in Kansas Arbuckle formation for candidate selection. The study was conducted for fifty-nine wells in which production wells were treated with a chrome acetate-polyacrylamide gelant. The first step was to conduct an economic analysis in order to quantify the economic value of the treatment. The second step was to apply multiple regression and discriminant analysis to predict the project economical behavior (NPV) using pre-treatment well information such as oil rate, water-to oil ratio, completion depth to the top of Arbuckle, and the total depth of the well. The results from this study could be used to improve candidate selection criteria.; It was found that eighty nine percent of the Arbuckle treated wells were economically successful at an oil price of {dollar}22 per barrel. The dollar value to the operators of the incremental oil production was a factor of approximately three greater than the value of decreased water production. (Abstract shortened by UMI.)...
