Abstract/Summary:
The phase shift zero voltage transition (ZVT) DC-to-DC converter is a widely used topology for use with medium to high power and medium to high input voltage. Due to the switching nature of the DC-to-DC converter control and some nonlinear physical processes, the dynamical model of the converter is nonlinear. By using state space averaging, the state space nonlinear equations for the phase shift ZVT converter are derived in the thesis. The derived mathematical model of the converter is validated via simulation and comparison with the circuit model. The novel feedback linearization controller is designed to control the output voltage while preventing the power transformer from saturating. The efficacy of the designed controller is tested on both the circuit model and the numerical state space average model.
