| Providing relevant forestry education and assistance to nonindustrial private forest (NIPF) landowners is necessary to encourage the active management of these lands. In order to be accepted and implemented on a wide scale, forestry outreach efforts must take into account the diversity of goals that NIPF owners have for their land. Through a mailed survey and a series of open-ended interviews, this study set out to gather information about the goals, attitudes, and learning preferences of nonindustrial private forest landowners in three Utah counties. The data were used to make specific recommendations about communication strategies for this audience. |
