Abstract/Summary:
This study which was designed to evaluate the relationship between practice performance attributes of the obstetrical/gynecological (OB/GYN) healthcare providers of a bye health system and their malpractice claims history. Practice performance attributes were assessed using the patient-centered care practice attributes developed for the Institute for Health Care Improvement's Idealized Design of Clinical Office Practices. Agency theory served as the framework. The study sample was involved the healthcare providers' patients and staff. Descriptive, chi-square analysis and multiple regression analysis were used to describe the sample and assess the impact of patient-centered care on a healthcare provider's malpractice claims history. Results revealed no statistically significant relationship between a healthcare provider's performance on the four attributes and their claims history.
