Abstract/Summary:
Through this study, the nature and dynamics of personal and organizational development were explored within the context of the unfolding movement to integrate spiritual principles into business. This exploration culminated in an in-depth case study of one organization. The works of Abraham Maslow and Richard Barrett strongly influenced this study, providing the theoretical framework for the discussions on self-actualization and levels of organizational consciousness. This mixed-methods study incorporated the transpersonal research method of intuitive inquiry as the primary means of qualitative data collection, analysis and synthesis. Intuitive inquiry was also used for integrating the personal with the interpersonal and transpersonal conclusions. At its core, this study was a search for personal healing and meaning and its reflection in the business organization. The study revealed that the case study organization primarily operated out of relatively higher levels of consciousness. This case study offered an example of how the natural inner impulses toward self-actualization and spiritual interconnectedness can be the internal driving factors for integrating spiritual principles into business.
