It is a conceptual approach focusing on the value of pedestrian street culture for a city. Public mass transit systems and the way they could be involved in an attempt to avoid individual motor traffic within the heart of a city is the central concern of this thesis. It is a statement written from a pedestrian's perspective. It uses terminology out of the planning profession yet it does not try to compete with a professional planning approach. Instead it participates in the process of rethinking urbanism and uses Lawrence, Kansas, as an example for growing metropolitan areas. It is a contribution to the continuing local discussion on the future development of the transportation network of the city of Lawrence, Kansas. It points out various ideas for possible improvements in an illustrative fashion. | Keywords/Search Tags: | City, Lawrence, Kansas | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
