Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study was (a) to investigate the efficacy of using the application Proloquo2Go to enable students to meet the language goals delineated in their Individual Education Programs (IEPs); and (b) to obtain information concerning any statistically significant relationship between the amount of training that educational specialists receive using Proloquo2Go and the efficacy of using the tool to enable students to meet the language goals in their IEPs.;In this quasi-experimental study 160 educational specialists were given surveys to measure their levels of agreement that using Proloquo2Go enabled their students to meet the language goals set in their IEPs. The survey also asked educational specialists about the number of hours of training they had in learning how to use Proloquo2Go. A statistical comparison analysis was done to determine whether there was any correlation between specialists' level of agreement and amount of training in using the app. The hypotheses that predicted that there would be a high level of agreement among educational specialists that using Proloquo2Go enabled their students to meet the language goals set in their IEPs were supported.;The hypotheses that predicted that there would be a low level of agreement among educational specialists that using Proloquo2Go enabled their students to meet language goals set in their IEPs were not supported. The hypothesis that predicted that there would be a statistically significant correlation between the amount of training that educational specialists received using Proloquo2Go and their level of agreement that using the app enabled their students to meet the language goals set in their IEPs was not supported. Conversely, the hypothesis that there would be no statistically significant correlation between the amount of training that educational specialists received using Proloquo2Go and their level of agreement that using the app enabled their students to meet the language goals set in their IEPs was supported. These findings supported the efficacy of Proloquo2Go as an AAC to improve students' language skills.
