| The application of microstrip patch antenna due to their low profile and easy fabrication has triggered extensive research. Much of the research is focused on offsetting one of the main drawbacks of the microstrip antenna, its low impedance bandwidth. Due to the nature of the applications, it is of considerable interest to study the effect of the finite metallic ground plane and curvature on the performance of the microstrip patch antenna. In this thesis we study the empirical design techniques of a wideband microstrip patch antenna. Simulation studies for effect of the curvature and finite ground plane on the impedance bandwidth and gain of the microstrip patch antenna is presented. |
