But it may take a long time to download these detailed 3D models from the network. Many methods have been proposed to compress 3D meshes first and then transmit them over the network. But it takes time for the end user to view these models if all the information is sent over reliable channel. Sending some information over unreliable channel could be one of the solutions, but such methods still have some problems in visualizing compressed 3D models.; In [16] and this thesis we address this problem by proposing "a connectivity error-concealment scheme [16] that is applicable to edge collapse/vertex split operators. We focus on network transmission schemes that use a combination of reliable and unreliable channels in order to reduce both delay and distortion. These types of schemes require that the decoder tolerates data loss without crashing the mesh and minimizes the distortion of the reconstructed model. The proposed scheme includes a triangulation prediction method at the decoder. Here, the decoder can triangulate the hole when the loss of connectivity data occurs. With the proposed error-concealment scheme, only the base mesh and the split bits are transmitted over reliable channel. The triangulation bits and geometric data are transmitted over unreliable channel. The decoder can tolerate the triangulation bit loss using triangulation prediction method and construct an approximation of the original mesh.; The proposed error-concealment scheme significantly reduces the data size required to be transmitted over reliable channel and hides the connectivity error using triangulation prediction method. Also the distortion introduced in the decoded meshes is much smaller than that by the simplification operators."[16]... | | Keywords/Search Tags: | 3D models, Triangulation prediction method, Mesh, Scheme, Loss, Over reliable channel | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
