Although MDEs are becoming more feasible for everyday work, there is currently little support for multi-display and multi-user interaction techniques in modern operating systems. This thesis presents the design and implementation of Swordfish, a framework for the development of interaction and visualization techniques for multi-display groupware (MDG). Additionally, the design and evaluation of Edit Blind, an interaction technique that provides a seamless manner for users to interact with remote displays, is informally evaluated. Our informal evaluation provides several criteria for the evaluation of MDG interfaces including window management overhead, timing data and user preference.
