Abstract/Summary:
Control of distributed parameter systems has been an active research area. This thesis presents a few research results on different, but related, topics.; The thesis mainly focused on the following problems: boundary control of DPS systems subject to delays, the performance comparison between the integer order boundary controller and the fractional order boundary controller, and the difference between boundary control of the wave equation and boundary control of the time-fractional order wave equation.; Specifically, the following topics were studied: a new simulation method for control of distributed parameter systems, control of time-fractional order wave equations using both integer order and fractional order boundary controllers, control of time-fractional order wave equations and beam equations subject to large delays, the development of a simulation platform for simulating control of diffusion process using mobile actuators and sensors, and parameter identification of the time-fractional wave equation.
