Abstract/Summary:
In The Glass Bead Game, Hermann Hesse has illuminated a path towards peace, equanimity and knowingness to combat crisis conditions that have occurred throughout history (projectivism). From the vantage point of contemporary global uncertainty, The Glass Bead Game is an art object that serves as a philosophy of universality. Detailed in the novel is the interrelated relationship of all things, which impact our human search for meaning and value. In effect, the novel postulates the arrival of increased human consciousness.; Subsequently, the novel points toward a means of repair for the individual, culture, humanity and nature. In addition, the thesis establishes a connection to a universal and collective standard for living life. Furthermore, the study defends the proposition that everything is recycled through the imprints of history and reveals the interconnectedness of all things (topology). Moreover, the study provides a bridge for the disparity between art and science.
