Abstract/Summary:
The problem of entropy generation for the convection heat transfer over a solid sphere is studied numerically using a finite difference technique. The governing energy and momentum equations are numerically solved. The effect of controlling parameters like Reynolds number (Re), Grashof number (Gr) and Eckert number (Ecm) on the velocity components as well as the temperature within the boundary layer is investigated for both Forced and Mixed Convection. The entropy generation is calculated for both Forced and Mixed Convection and for the two boundary conditions, namely uniform heat flux and uniform wall temperature. In both the cases, the effects of various Controlling parameters like Re, Gr, and Eckert number (Ecm) on entropy generation is investigated. And the condition in which the entropy generation becomes minimum is established.
