Abstract/Summary:
This study analyzes the performance of "push", CONWIP, and "PFB" systems in lines with bottlenecks and breakdowns. A multiline, multistage, multiproduct production system was used to compare the three systems. Simulation models were developed and the three systems are compared. The performance measures for comparison include Average Waiting Time, Work-In-Process, and Total Buffer size. The systems are also compared with and without machine breakdown. The results of analyses show that pull systems perform better than push systems.
