Abstract/Summary:
Hybrid-Electric Vehicles (HEVs) are an emerging technology in the automotive market. To develop efficient yet powerful HEVs that can be charged easily, it is necessary to use modern concepts of electronic power conversion to design optimum converters. The current project presents the design and development of a proposed converter, and compares its performance to other existing converters commonly used for HEV battery charging. Simulation results and analysis of the proposed converter show that it provides high output power, by having a high output voltage and high output current. The simulations show that the proposed system can provide up to twice the output power of a traditional fly-back converter.
