Abstract/Summary:
Statement of issue/problem. The Buffalo Central Terminal is a national landmark railroad station that is significant to both the city and nation regarding railroad history.; Statement of significance of issue. The terminal station was and is an iconic landmark to the neighborhood and the city of Buffalo, a reminder of the greatness that once was. The neighborhood has suffered, due to high unemployment, crime and economic despair that has exceeded the levels in other parts of Buffalo. The proposal here is to reconnect the terminal within itself and to the surrounding neighborhood and city as well both physically and purposefully. In general, the previous proposals did not consider the contextual fabric of the neighborhood. This thesis will explore how the Terminal might meet those needs most effectively.
