| The curator of obscurity is often the main source of energy in my poems; it assists with pointing out or illuminating what might be passed by or remain unnoticed. By telling a story, the curator uses the linguistic vehicle that is fitted to a frame of energetic force or emotional content. This energetic force communicates with urgency a never-before-uttered story or sense of a place, or it heralds a public or private individual. As poets, it is our vocation to meditate on what attracts us emotionally until it arrives smoking and crackling on the page.;Inherent in the emotionally driven framework, these poems are permeated with a sense of vulnerability. Emotions are often as skittish as Mustangs, whose instincts tell them to throw riders off their backs. Like a river or the east wind, the writing traverses precarious footholds in the poems. And because of the distance between these footholds, the work makes space for what is not explicit to be discovered by the reader. The poems found in the appendix of this project seek to tell and listen to stories about the obscure, the duplicitous and the vulnerable in a voice filled with irresolution and reverence. |
