It specifically examines the XIX Commonwealth Games 2010 hosted by the capital city of India, New Delhi and analyzes the development process during the preparation period of the Commonwealth Games. It focuses on three types of developments planned and constructed, planned but not constructed and additional developments. The transport infrastructure development like roads and flyover and in transit sector modifications and expansion of the Delhi metro (rapid rail transit) was analyzed according to the above mentioned categories. Finally, it was deduced that the Commonwealth Games accelerated the development process that was initially planned by the city, but it also compelled the city to invest in developments that were required for the successful delivery of Commonwealth Games. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Commonwealth games, City, Delhi | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
