Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this thesis is to understand and answer three central questions: 1. What factors have influenced the educational experiences of the Latinas in my family; 2, to what extent has assimilation into the mainstream American culture influenced the educational mobility of specific Latinas in my family; and 3, how do the educational experiences of the Latinas in my family speak to a greater Latina educational experience?;This study's overall goal is to increase the number and variety of Latina educational experiences told, by adding the educational stories of some of my family members to the limited amount of literature dealing with Latina educational experiences, in general, and to those Latinas in the Midwest, in particular.
