Optimization of Jpeg image compression using a video quality metric

Our main purpose is to examine the level of Jpeg compression by using it quality settings. By using the JPEG encoder/decoder algorithm we compress the image such that the compressed image is indistinguishable from the original image and this can be achieved by using the quality switch available in the program. The Gabor difference analyser algorithm is then used to calculate the video quality of the image. Coding results are presented to illustrate the performance of both the Jpeg and Gabor difference analyser algorithm.
