Abstract/Summary:
It is well recognized that innovations are weapons of success for firms, sectors and industries. The industry of engineering consulting and construction (IICC) is very important for the economic health of countries. However, several studies suggest that the IICC sector does not undertake innovation activities. The theory of games of innovation suggests that the interactions and the various strategic decisions of players in a sector can create low-level equilibrium and high-level equilibrium. The starting idea of our research is to understand why the Quebec's IICC sector seems to be facing a dead-lock while the IICC sector in Denmark seems to be growing healthy. In short, we aim to understand why the IICC in Quebec reached a low-level of ex post equilibrium while the IICC in Denmark reached a high-level of ex post equilibrium.; Our work aims to answer the following research questions: (i) why the IICC sector in Quebec does not innovate? (ii) why it is not profitable for players in this sector to invest in the development of technological innovations? (iii) by which means the IICC sector innovates in Quebec and in Denmark? and (iv) why the IICC sector in Denmark seems to be healthy while the same sector in Quebec seems to be facing a dead-lock?
