Abstract/Summary:
This document details the development of a quantitative framework to show the value brought to ICCC (a fictitious name of a real company) by its Information Technology (IT) department. The Balanced Scorecard (BSC) approach was put forth in the early 1990's to help align business efforts with strategic vision. This methodology will be used to align the work of the IT department with corporate vision. The following will be detailed in this document: the development of a strategic map and a BSC, a system of metrics will be devised within this framework, and a baseline analysis will be conducted using the open-source application OpenScorecard.Primary data were from a questionnaire distributed to the executive team at ICCC. These individuals represent the groups of internal customers whom the IT department must satisfy. Responses were categorized to discover their expectations. The conclusion of this research is that through tracking and working to improve the metrics found for the BSC, ICCC's IT department will better reach its strategic goals and help ICCC reach its goals.
