| Environmental management has quickly become an issue in society that has gained the attention of the general population and that of government administration. This thesis examines two specific environmental management techniques in Ontario: voluntary stewardship programs and legislated government regulation. The goal of the analysis is to learn which the most effective method is of if they should be coupled in order to gain the most efficient manner to achieve environmental stability and protection. The major conclusion that emerges from the analysis it hat each system of management has its strengths and weaknesses. There will continually be those in society who refuse to voluntarily participate in any environmental program while there will be those who go above and beyond the norm and do so voluntarily. At present there is a need for both techniques of management as well as improved communication to enable improvements to be met. |
