Abstract/Summary:
The demand and progression of the tourism industry allowed for an increase in the desire for a new kind of travel. The discovery of ecotourism isn't new; however, the incredible increase in popularity has now made it the fastest growing sector in the hospitality industry. The following study analyzes the trend of ecotourism in its leading country, Costa Rica. Much research was conducted by the means of literature review written by Costa Rica inhabitants and industry professionals analyzing current and past events. Innovative methods have continuously been proposed to promote the further growth of eco-tourism as well as the preservation of the natural resources involved. Upon completion of reading the following, one will fully understand the history, advantages and disadvantages, involved certifications, client market and motives associated with ecotourism, in hopes to gain a number of new supporters.
