Abstract/Summary:
A variety of novel molecular (0-dimensional), 1-dimensional chains, 2-dimensional layers and 3-dimensional framework materials have been successfully synthesized and characterized. Chapter I provides the introduction and describes the wide spread need of new generation materials to cater the needs of the industry and society.; Synthesis and complete characterization of novel molecular complexes [VIVOSO4(H2O)4]· SO 4· [H2N(C2H4)2NH 2] and [VIVOSO4(H2O)4]· SO4· [HN(C2H4)3NH] have been described in the chapter II. These molecules are attractive precursors for making extended solids with desired properties.; Chapter III envelopes the synthesis and complete characterization of a new class of inorganic-organic hybrid materials characterized by −V−O−SO 4− chains in [V2O2(OH) 2SO4)(2,2-bipyridine)] and double −V−O−SO 4− chains in [V2O2(SO4) 2(2,2bipyridine)2] separated by 2,2-bipyridine organic ligand. New compounds [VIVOSO 4(H2O)4]· SO4· [H 2N(C2H4)2NH2] and [V IVOSO4(H2O)4]· SO4· [HN(C2H4)3NH] described in Chapter II have been used as precursors to prepare these new solids ([V2O 2(OH)2 SO4(2,2-bipyridine)] and [V2O2(SO4)2(2,2-bipyridine)2]. A new layered solid VO(OH)2SO 4· 2NH4 intercalating NH4+ has also been described.; Chapter IV describes the preparation of new open framework composites with large channels. These solids represent novel zeolitic materials composed of −V−O−V wires connected by robust organic ligands. A 2-dimensional solid composed of novel vanadium oxide (V6O14 2−) layers intercalating doubly protonated DABCO (1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2] octane) cations and water molecules has also been described in this Chapter.
