Assessing the feasibility of implementing landscape water demand analysis and other water conservation tools: An analysis of water retailers in Salt Lake County, Utah

With an impending water crisis coming to Utah, water retailers must begin to prepare for this water shortage. This paper identifies current pricing structures and information resources belonging to individual water agencies in Salt Lake County, and assesses the feasibility of implementing a comprehensive water budget-based water pricing system. This paper also addresses retailer compliance and familiarity with legislative mandates aimed at the creation of long-term conservation plans for water retailers in Utah with more than 500 connections.
