he first part of this dissertation describes the synthesis and metalation chemistry of linear oligopyrroles. Here, attention was focused on a simple tripyrrane system. In these studies, the solid state X-ray crystallographic characterization of a tripyrrane and a tripyrrane-copper complex was achieved. This latter complex was studied by electrochemistry, UV/vis spectroscopy, and electron spin resonance spectroscopy and evaluated as a potential spectroscopic model for the blue copper enzymes.;The second part of this dissertation details a comparison between the metalation chemistry of the 22 ;The third part of this dissertation describes an ;The fourth part of this dissertation describes the synthesis of pyrrole-cyclopentadiene conjugates. The ability of these conjugates to form metallocenes was explored and it was found that they can serve as building blocks in the synthesis of three dimensional systems. The characteristics of the metallocenes were analyzed by... |
