Abstract/Summary:
Polymer gel treatment can shut-off water channeling through the fractures of the reservoir formation to the producing well. A stable crosslinked polymer gel system suitable for reservoir in hostile environment (high temperature and high salinity with very high divalent cations, i.e. Ca;Extensive laboratory tests were conducted to evaluate gelling and stability characteristics of the above mentioned polymer gel system under hostile environment. Laboratory tests show that gel produced by the reaction of HE 300 polymer with phenyl acetate and hexamethylenetetramine in synthetic sea water containing 1700 ppm and 3000 ppm had hardness survived for 110 days of aging at 235...
