Abstract/Summary:
One advantage of the kraft process is the recovery of the active pulping chemicals, thus reducing operating costs. Quantitative description of the physical and chemical properties is important for the optimization of current processes and the development of new ones. This work deals with the development of such a model that predicts the thermodynamic properties of kraft liquors using the ASPEN PLUS process simulation software.;The first chapter presents a description of the kraft process. The second chapter deals with the chemistry and the nature of the kraft liquor components. This chapter also deals with the definition of the modeled properties and the current state of the research on this subject. In the third chapter, the thermodynamic model and the calculation methods are exposed. Finally, the results and an application example are presented in the last chapters.;It has been shown that the properties of kraft liquors can be accurately estimated using a thermodynamic model. New estimation methods for liquor properties become a priority, as new developments in the kraft recovery process are being considered. (Abstract shortened by UMI.)...
