| New MMIC models at microwave and mm-wave frequencies are developed to incorporate them into a microwave simulation tool. The models are specifically generated for the MMIC step and tee passive structures. These passive structures are usually neglected when complicate MMIC active circuits are fabricated. To obtain an accurate characterization of the MMIC circuit previous to fabrication, it is necessary to analyze the behavior of all passives and active components in the circuit. UPRM and Raytheon joined efforts to generate models (meta-models) for the most common passive discontinuities currently used in the design of MMIC circuits. The models are generated based on the results obtained with a 3-D electromagnetic simulator, applying statistical techniques to finally obtain the parameterized model of the component. The results obtained are compared to MMIC passive structures fabricated in Raytheon used to validate the models. |
