Abstract/Summary:
Sarazin (1998) has evaluated the influence of the welding conditions of specified welding machine on the quality of seams. This work includes analysis of destructive mechanical test (shear and peel) and thermal tests by DSC. He could not identify any difference in the behavior between the various seams. Our study and its objectives are in the continuity of this work. We will try to use the stress cracking test to identify differences in behavior of the seams. This test consists in the measurement of the resistance of material to cracking under constant load in a chemical environment.; The literature review allowed to study the mechanism of stress cracking as well as various tests used for the characterization of stress cracking resistance (SCR) of double track fusion seams and geomembrane sheet. In result, our research program is divided in three thematic.; In a first stage, the development of an accelerated version of standard Stress Cracking test was performed.; In the second time, we developed a new procedure for testing stress cracking resistance of seams.; Finally, this new test adopted to geomembranes seams was carried out on the seams performed by Sarazin (1998).
