Abstract/Summary:
The slope and contributing area relationship for ephemeral gully formation in Allegan County, Michigan can be expressed as slope = 0.08 * contributing area -0.37 Ephemeral gullies form in Allegan County most often in soils that are loamy and are in the hydrologic soil group C. The threshold for ephemeral gully formation is slightly higher for soils that are more permeable. A model can be created using GIS that will use the above equation to predict vulnerability to gully formation in Allegan County, Michigan.
