Abstract/Summary:
The objective of this research was to determine the effect of bacterization and/or amendment of growing medium with cytokinin-rich seaweed extract on potato minituber production in the greenhouse. There was an assumption that the bacterium may facilitate the uptake of cytokinins and/or cytokinin precursors present in seaweed extract and improve tuberization. Three to four week-old bacterized and non-bacterized potato plantlets of cvs. Shepody or Kennebec were transplanted in the greenhouse into flats containing peat moss based ASB growing medium amended with Seasol seaweed extract (Durvillea potatorum (Labillardiere)), or the equivalent mineral salts.
