Abstract/Summary:
This paper applies a multinomial logit version of travel cost random utility model and count data travel cost models to overnight hiking permits from the Pasayten wilderness of Washington State. The multinomial logit model is used to value trail attributes. These attributes include forest eco-systems and management characteristics. The count models are applied to estimate consumer surplus and the latent quantity demanded.
