Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study was to compare the perceptions of general and adapted physical educators toward the inclusion of students with disabilities in general physical education. The Physical Educators' Perception on Inclusion Inventory (PEPII) (Hodge, Murata, & Jansma, 1997) was administered to elementary general and adapted physical educators who were employed in the State of Texas. Each of the 110 adapted physical educators was sent a packet containing three surveys one survey for the adapted physical educator, and one to be given to two general physical educators. A coin was flipped to determine which general physical educator would be used in the study. Of the 110 groups of physical educators surveyed, 23 adapted and 23 general physical educators returned the completed survey. Data was calculated using descriptive statistics and an independent samples t-test. There was no significant difference between general and adapted physical educators' perceptions.
