Abstract/Summary:
The Close Combat Tactical Trainer is the first system to be acquired in the U.S. Army's Combined Arms Tactical Trainer family of militarized training devices. These systems provide maneuver training for units at different echelons (primarily platoon and company) using a synthetic environment to simulate real world operations. This thesis examines the performance of the Close Combat Tactical Trainer in the several required training configurations and at various levels of component reliability to determine the (component) reliabilities necessary to meet anticipated training demands. System performance is modeled using SLAMSYSTEM II as the modeling tool to develop representative networks of the alternative training configurations. Each configuration is examined at various levels of reliability until a specified level of overall system performance is attained.
