Abstract/Summary:
A mobile Ad Hoc network is a temporary network established by the users with wireless interfaces. It operates without any aid from the preexisting infrastructure. A mobile Ad Hoc network with 50 nodes was simulated and the protocols at the Medium Access Layer (Carrier Sense Multiple Access, IEEE 802.11), Transport layer (Transport control Protocol, User Defined Protocol), Network (Internet Protocol) and Network Routing layers (Bellman Ford Algorithm, Wireless Routing Protocol, Dynamic Source Routing, Location Aided Routing, Ad Hoc On Demand distance Vector) were studied. The best suitable protocols for this network at each layer were proposed and the performance of the best routing protocol (Ad Hoc On Demand distance Vector) was improved by modifying the parameters used in the protocol as per the need of the network.
