Abstract/Summary:
Estimates of gas-in-place in the Powder River Basin for coalbed methane, a potentially important domestic resource, total approximately 39 trillion cubic feet. History matches and sensitivity analyses, based on limited early production data for six wells in the basin, were conducted using a commercially available simulator. The simulation study showed that coalbed methane production in the Powder River Basin may be economic under present conditions.
