Abstract/Summary:
his thesis describes fundamental spectroscopic studies of films useful for catalytic reductions and oxidations as well as preliminary studies of the photochemical reactivity of new titanium dioxide electrodes for pollutant oxidation.;Microenvironmental polarity and viscosity in ordered composite films of dialkyldimethylammonium surfactants and clay at various temperatures were studied by using the fluorescent probes, pyrene and 1,3-di(1-pyrenyl)propane (DPP). A decrease in monomer fluorescence peaks and an increase in excimer peaks as temperature increases through the phase transition region allowed estimation of T;High surface area titanium dioxide films coated on conductive glass as describe by Gratzel for photovaltaics were expected for photomineralization of 4-chlorophenol.
