| A laboratory soil erosion flume was designed and constructed. The flume was designed for use in sheet flow and furrow soil erosion studies. Flexibility of the flume system to allow its use under a variety of hydraulic and soil conditions was stressed. The flume was instrumented to measure velocity at a point in the flow with a computer controlled measurement and data acquisition system. Velocity profiles for shallow flow correlated well with theoretical profiles.Sheet flow erosion studies conducted with the flume showed consistent results. The flume allowed precise control over erosion causing variables. |
