For decades domestic violence has continued to increase throughout the United States, particularly among African Americans, who experience a 35% higher rate of violence than that of white females, and an approximately 22 % higher rate of women of.;other races (Rennison & Welchans, 2000). In an effort to obtain data regarding the effects of attachment styles with African American males in romantic relationships exposed to domestic violence, this study tested one hypothesis. H1: There will be a significant.;difference in attachment styles between the group of men exposed to domestic violence and the group not exposed to domestic violence.
