Rapid and low-quality urbanization has led to a series of problems such as traffic congestion, unreasonable spatial distribution of land use, lack of public space, and “ghost towns”,etc.Enhancing the understanding of urban vitality and exploring the measurement and evaluation methods of urban vitality are very important for the development of vibrant and sustainable cities. With the rapid development of technologies such as the Internet, information and communication technology,3S technology, and location-based services,it has become possible to record human spacetime locations in real time and obtain large amounts of space-time data with location information from social networks or specialized websites. It provides a new perspective for quantitative research on urban vitality.Lanzhou is one of the most important central cities in Northwest China. In the process of industrialization and urbanization, due to the constraints of terrain, the limitations of early urban development planning and the unreasonable industrial layout, problems such as excessive population concentration, urban traffic congestion, unreasonable urban function distribution and environmental pollution have occurred in Lanzhou. The study of the spatial and temporal distribution of Lanzhou urban vitality and its influencing factors can monitor the development status of Lanzhou and provide scientific reference for the optimization of Lanzhou city development planning and the realization of sustainable and high-quality urban development.Based on open source data, this article uses mathematical statistics, spatial analysis and other methods to analyze the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics and differences in different functional blocks of urban vitality, and explore the global and local relationship between the urban morphological factors and urban vitality. The main conclusions are as follows:(1)In the main urban area of Lanzhou city, the high-vitality blocks are usually clustered, mainly in the commercial center, the place where jobs are concentrated and the surrounding areas. The distribution has obvious multicentric characteristics, and there are active centers in all the four district.Chengguan District has the widest distribution of high-vitality blocks, mainly located in the Xiguan-Nanguan-Railway bureau area. The distribution of vibrant centers is basically the same on weekdays and weekends.(2)The time variation trend of urban vitality is basically the same in weekdays and weekends, but slightly different. On the whole, the urban vitality is higher on the weekends than on the weekdays, and the time variation curves of the blocks of different urban vitality levels are different.Influenced by work and study, the change of area of medium-high and high-energy blocks during working days is more regular.(3)There is a great difference in urban vitality between blocks of different function types.Among different functional blocks, the directions of vitality change are different in weekdays and weekends, and there are obvious differences in urban vitality time change curve. The time variation characteristics of urban vitality in different functional blocks are quite different. The vitality variation of educational, commercial and residential functional blocks is closely related to peoples work and study schedule.(4)The influence of various factors on urban vitality is different, with great difference. All factors except functional equilibrium have positive influence on urban vitality. The impact of each factor on urban vitality on weekdays and weekends is similar. The impact of land development intensity on urban vitality is significantly greater than other factors, followed by building height diversity,small-scale road accessibility ranks third, while functional richness, functional equilibrium and largescale road accessibility have less impact on urban vitality.(5)The influence of each factor on urban vitality has great spatial heterogeneity, and the spatial distribution of different influencing factor coefficients is greatly different. The analysis results of weekdays and weekends are similar, except that the coefficient distribution of functional richness was significantly different between weekdays and weekends.
