In this paper, using GIS technology as the research means, more than 2,000 sites of pre-Qin period in Jinghe River Basin were used to establish the archaeological geographic information database. On this basis, using GIS analysis methods such as digital terrain analysis, natural resource analysis, spatial clustering analysis and maximum entropy ruins prediction model, this paper quantitatively analyzed the difference distribution of ruins in the middle Neolithic, late Neolithic and Xia,Shang and Zhou Dynasties in Jinghe River Basin. To explore the relationship between site selection and natural environment reflected by site distribution and its diachronic change trend. Then, the regularity of site selection adapting to environmental changes is summarized, and the influencing factors are summarized and discussed.Combined with the existing research results of the Weihe River Basin, further verification and improvement of the obtained regularity understanding are carried out.The analysis shows that rivers in the middle and late Neolithic Age strongly guided the site selection, but the site selection strategy experienced a change from preference to exclusion, which was mainly related to the topography and climate change of the Jinghe River Basin. However, the overall distribution situation is obviously affected by climate change. For example, during the Xia,Shang and Zhou dynasties, because of the dramatic decrease in temperature, the distribution area of the sites has changed significantly. In addition, the cohesion between sites gradually increases over time, which is inseparable from the development and progress of social organizational structure. In addition, this paper also introduces the maximum entropy model into the study of site prediction model, through analysis and comparison, further verifies the research value of the maximum entropy model in archaeology, and provides new ideas and methods to the study of relationship between human and environment from the perspective of settlement archaeology.
