Objective:This study analyzed the species composition of berry plants in the Hengduan Mountains and the characteristics of total phenolic content of these plants under different perspectives based on the collection of total phenolic content of existing berry plants in the Hengduan Mountains,which will be of great significance for the rational exploitation and revealing the ecological mechanisms of berry plants.Methods:1 Based on the fieldwork in the Hengduan Mountains of the team of Kunming Institute of Botany and other ways,Chinese Academy of Sciences,we obtained the relatively complete list of berry plants of this region.2 Total phenolic data of berry plants were obtained through various search channels,and total phenolic content characteristics were analyzed by graphs and tables Results:1 Species composition of berry plants in the Hengduan Mountains(1)According to statistics,there are 201 families,1653 genera and 11,647 species of angiosperms in the Hengdaun Mountain region.Among them,there are 48 families,132 genera and 881 species of berry plants.(2)Among the berry plants in this region,there are 9 families of monocotyledons and 39 families of dicotyledons.(3)For life form,berry plants in the region can be divided into 36 families,88 genera and 659 species of herbaceous berry plants,and 23 families,51 genera and 222 species of woody berry plants in the region.(4)Statistics on the number level of families and genera in the region show that there are 8 monotypic families,23 families with less species,14 medium families,and3 dominant families,and 49 monotypic genera,61 genera with less species,19 medium genera,and 3 dominant genera.(5)Among the plants with different economic uses,there are 19 families of edible(starch)plants,13 families of oil(essential oil /gum/tannin)plants,11 families of green ornamental plants,5 families of poisonous plants,5 families of timber trees,4 families of fiber plants,and 4 families of forage(pasture/nectar)plants.(6)The tropical component/temperate component(R/T value)of berry plants in the region at the family and genus level is 2.89 and 1.72,respectively,indicating the characteristics of tropical zone are stronger in berry plants of this region.2 Characteristics of total phenolic content of berry plants in the Hengduan Mountains(1)The mean value of total phenolic content of mixed herbaceous and woody berry plants was highest and 82.24 mg/g;the mean value of total phenolic content of woody berry plants was 66.80 mg/g;the mean value of total phenolic content of herbaceous berry plants was only 53.47 mg/g.(2)At the family level,Grossulariaceae is with the highest mean value of total phenolic content,while the lowest mean value of total phenolic content was found in the Clusiaceae.At the genus level,the highest mean value of total phenolic content was found in the Ternstroemia,while the lowest mean value of total phenolic content was found in the Kadsura.(3)The mean value of total phenolic content of different berry plants under economic use was the highest in green ornamental plants with 74.35 mg/g and the lowest in medicinal plants with 63.01 mg/g.(4)Berry plants in the Hengduan Mountain region can be divided into nine types of distribution areas,with seven families of the cosmopolitan family,which has the highest mean value of total phenolic content of 95.02 mg/g;and two families of the Old world tropical distribution,with an mean value of total phenolic content of 7.85 mg/g.(5)The relationship among the total phenolic content of different solvent extracted berry plants: methanol > ethanol > water.(6)Relationship among the total phenolic content of rhizome,leaf and fruit parts:leaf > fruit > rhizome.3 Extended researchThe chloroplast genome of A.vitifolia was 150878 bp at length,the LSC region was 82020 bp,the SSC region was 17563 bp,the IRs were 25647 bp,and the total GC content was 38.5%.There are 130 genes in this genome,including 83 protein-coding genes,8 r RNA genes and 39 t RNA genes.According to the phylogenetic analysis,Saurauia tristyla is sister to Actinidia vitifolia.Conclusion:Plant and berry plant species is rich in Hengduan Mountains.This study systematically described the species composition of berry plants in this region from the plant life type,family and genera level,economic use,geographical component and vertical elevation gradient and analyzed the characteristic of total phenolic content from the plant life type,family and genera level,economic use,geographical component,plant part and extraction solvent.Meanwhile,this study expanded the chloroplast genome structure and phylogenetic relationship of Actinidia vitifolia,which laid a foundation for the future study of plant polyphenol content through genome.
