The 21st Century is the century of the ocean,and mankind has gradually turned its attention to the ocean.In order to ensure the safety of various deep-sea equipment and facilities,the foundation is the accurate and efficient simulations of all waves in the ocean.There comes the numerical tank technology,which matured with the development of CFD theory and breakthroughs in science and technology.The emergence of various commercial software based on the viscous CFD method has further promoted the development of numerical pool technology.Generally,it needs certain experience and simulation skills to get a better result by CFD commercial software.In order to provide specific simulation strategies and relevant empirical parameters for numerical simulation of surface waves and internal waves by viscous CFD method,the research of this paper is carried out based on FLUENT software.Firstly,the simulations of surface wave including regular waves,long crest irregular wave and focus wave are carried out.The regular waves are simulated by FLUENT software,which emphasize on the influence of many factors including the grid size,the length of damping zone,the damping function and its coefficient.The recommended empirical parameters and simulation strategies are given through the comparasion of the FLUENT results with those of stream function and Green-Naghdi water-wave theory.Furthermore,random waves such as long crest irregular wave and focus wave are simulated base on the recommended empirical parameters and simulation strategies so as to verify the accuracy.Labotary expeiments on regular waves are conducted and compared with the FLUENT results based on the recommended empirical parameters and simulation strategies.The results show that the recommended empirical parameters and simulation strategies can ensure sufficiently high calculation accuracy.Finally,the simulations of two-layer internal waves with FLUENT software are carried out,which emphasize on the wave profile and velocity filed.The recommended empirical parameters and simulation strategies are given through the comparasion of the FLUENT results and the results of Green-Naghdi Internal-wave theory.Furthermore,the simulations of different two-layer's density ration base on the recommended empirical parameters and simulation strategies are carried out so as to verify the accuracy and effectiveness of the recommended empirical parameters and simulation strategies.Labotary expeiments on two-layer internal waves are conducted and compared with the FLUENT results based on the recommended empirical parameters and simulation strategies.The comparison and verification show that the empirical parameters and simulation strategies recommended in this paper can effectively describe two-layer internal wave.
